A well-known figure on the Brest scene, Isabelle Portugal is the talented host of the Désordre restaurant in Brest.Although her parents ran a music store in Lesneven before they split up, young Isabelle Portugal initially turned to aesthetics. "I obtained a CAP (vocational training certificate), but it wasn't really a field that interested me. Le Gueule de Bois doesn't survive Covid
She worked for a while on the port of Brest, then joined The Dubliners, an Irish pub where she spent seven years, interspersed with seasons in Corsica and the Southern Alps. After a few months as room manager at Les Tontons Zingueurs in Brest, Isabelle Portugal opened Le Gueule de Bois with Kienan Rayer, a beer bar in the Saint-Louis district - "a part of Brest that I love", she says. The romance lasted five years, but the wear and tear of time andCovid eventually pushed the two partners to sell their business .
"I then got into wine, by taking part in grape harvests in Burgundy, but also by participating in winemaking for several weeks, and by taking a distance-learning course in sommellerie. And, afterworking at Le Globulle Rouge, now closed, I opened Désordre, first the bar part, then, a few weeks later, the restaurant part, hiring Laëtitia Uguen, the former chefat Le Globulle Rouge.
