Didier GIMONNET

It's hard to find a family with deeper roots than the Gimonnet family, who have lived in Cuis, a village classified as a Premier Cru, since 1615! Didier Gimonnet, President of Champagne Gimonnet & fils and a passionate winegrower, will be at his 39th harvest in 2025.

" We've been making wine for a century because, after the 1929 crisis and the fall in grape prices, my grandfather decided to free himself from the wine trade," explains Didier Gimonnet. Today, the domaine's vineyards cover 30 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru. All this in different villages of the Côte des Blancs, including six hectares of old vines - from 1911 to 1982 - in the commune of Cramant, the real " treasure of the domaine ", according to Didier Gimonnet. Having worked with his elder brother for many years, it's now the next generation who are working with him. " Winemaking is like cooking... You need the best ingredients to make wine. So, thanks to very clean and sustainable viticulture, we aim to obtain grapes with a deep expression of terroir and great aromatic maturity. And in the cellar, the use of stainless steel rather than wood enables us to retain a great deal of freshness," explains Didier. The Gimonnet style is based on freshness, elegance, finesse and minerality, without excessive tension, far from it. This identity is the hallmark of all the estate's champagnes, whether blended or single-village cuvées.
