Deutz
For over 180 years, Deutz, an early member of the prestigious Syndicat des grandes marques, has been crafting great champagnes with a style that combines finesse, vinosity and complexity. Deutz is first and foremost the story of two wine merchants from Aachen: Pierre-Hubert Geldermann and William Deutz. Founded in 1838, the Aÿ-based firm is today the guardian of a heritage patiently built up over generations. Managing 42 ha, the house sources its grapes from around 350 ha, mainly from the historic Champagne crus, the vast majority of which are Grands Crus and Premier Crus. It is in the cellars, 30 meters below ground in galleries called "cradles", that the house wines benefit from prolonged aging. These caves, dug into the chalk, ensure that the cuvées reach their full potential and aromatic complexity.
