Claude Cazals
In 1897, Ernest Cazals, a cooper from the Hérault region of France, decided to settle in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Since then, three generations of winemakers have succeeded one another, both faithful to tradition and open to progress. Today, Delphine Cazals runs the business. The 9 ha of vines, located exclusively in the Grand Cru and Premier Cru regions, are planted with Chardonnay. The company also owns one of the very few clos de la Champagne, dating from the 1950s, with 3.7 ha: Clos Cazals, in Oger. The wines are very marked by their terroir, and seek tension and purity rather than fullness. A benchmark house in this style.
