Chef's Restaurant Strolling along the cobblestones of Vieux-Lille, between pedestrian streets, the Grand-Place and boutiques, it's impossible not to stop at this majestic facade, full of history since 1677, overlooking a scooter promoting the merits of the famous Meert waffles. An institution that has aged well and remains in the landscape as well as in the imagination. More than just a tea room or restaurant, the establishment has become a true brand, proud to affix its capital letter to every component of the house, plates, staff outfits, period furniture... If you like the waffles and pastries, the restaurant doesn't fall short. The menu features timeless dishes such as Flemish carbonade, blanquette de veau, waterzoï from Ghent and a fine revisit of Caesar salad with Cotentin blue lobster. The "ÉphéMéert" range is rounded out by orzo risotto with roasted pumpkin cream, duck hash parmentier and a generous portion of veal sweetbreads with white morels. And since we can't resist, the pistachio-raspberry cabbage, the imperial, or the vanilla-pecan croustillant are a further temptation. Good wine selection.
