With the month of May comes the now traditional summer rosé. Fresh and easy to drink, chilled as an aperitif, but not only. There are also more gastronomic rosés to open with summer dishes. Our 5-pin selection.

  • Domaine La Courtade (1)

Cuvée "La Courtade

Porquerolles

2021

Very distinguished, this "Courtade" 2021: the nose is very fresh and pleasantly dominated by red fruits. Floral notes appear with aeration. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, sappy, both mineral and iodized. A real treat. Open as an aperitif and extend with sea urchins or other seafood.

Price: €24.50

  • Château Saint-Maur (2)

Clos de Capelune" vintage

Côtes-de-provence

2021

This top-of-the-range château cuvée is presented in a black case and a very dark glass. This "Clos de Capelune" then reveals a beautiful, clear, luminous lychee color. The wine opens with an elegant nose of wild strawberry, pink grapefruit and blackcurrant buds. Served well chilled and left to warm in the glass, it reveals itself to be full-bodied, structured and deep. Delicate length and distinction on the finish. Open it with enlightened connoisseurs and enjoy it with langoustine crème de fenouil.

Price: €38

  • Château La Calisse (3)

Cuvée "Patricia Ortelli

Coteaux-varois-en-provence

2021

What a color! This rosé is almost white! The nose opens with notes of pineapple, exotic fruit, peach and citrus. On the palate, this rosé strikes the right balance between tension and mid-palate fatness. Superb orange-peel bitterness on the racy finish. A gastronomic rosé par excellence, it's best served with grilled bass or Thai papaya salad.

Price: €24

  • Château Pibarnon (4)

Cuvée " Rosé

Bandol

2021
As is often the case in Bandol, and at Pibarnon in particular, the color is more pronounced than elsewhere in Provence. This "true" rosé, with its crimson highlights, opens with exaggerated but very elegant red fruit notes: wild strawberries, redcurrants and burlat cherries. The mouth is superbly structured thanks to the dominant mourvèdre: it is both precise and broad. This vibrant rosé is the perfect accompaniment to characterful dishes such as red mullet, saffron sauces or rocket and crab salad.

Price: €23

  • Château Mentone (5)

Cuvée "1033

Côtes-de-provence

2021

A rare rosé. Vinified in 228-liter barrels, this rosé has a slightly deeper color than the other cuvées. The nose also offers unusual notes of toast, toasted bread and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is very round. This is obviously a wine for gourmets, to be opened with fine meats such as veal, or with fish that will support its power, such as red mullet. Only 700 bottles available.
