Outstanding Hotel Named in honor of Galla Placidia, the empress who ruled Rome in the 5th century, this manor house is dedicated to the region's remarkable women (such as resistance fighter Yvette Chassagne), whose names are listed in the 8 beautiful rooms. Halfway between an art gallery and a boutique hotel, this refuge also boasts a charming atmosphere in its salon and art gallery, featuring works by local women artists, as well as a patio and rooftop terrace filled with greenery. It's the perfect place to base yourself before exploring the city's cathedral and former archbishop's palace, which is as sumptuous as Avignon's and unjustly overlooked.
